Our Story

Peter Sidwell’s Kitchen has been 12 years in the making - that’s how long it’s been since I last wrote a book. Lots has happened in those 12 years, both in and out of the kitchen: children, dogs, and building houses to mention just a few


During that time, I also launched my weekly cookery show, also Peter Sidwell’s Kitchen. It was born out of lockdown back in 2020, when we were all stuck in our homes with not much to do but cook. I have been lucky enough to have presented several different TV shows over the years, but I’d never been able to just cook and chat to the viewer about my recipes, ideas and techniques before. As the show has grown from strength to strength, reaching audiences all around the world,


I decided it was time to put pen to paper and create a cookbook: one that not only helped you recreate my recipes from the show, but that would inspire you in the kitchen and teach you the basic skills you need to start tweaking recipes yourself. Flavour is everything in my kitchen, so these recipes are focused on a solid foundation of technique that will allow you to combine flavours that just work together.

I hope this book inspires you to get into the kitchen and cook. My culinary style is all about flavour and ingredient- led cooking, meaning I often start with an ingredient that I want to cook or one that’s at its best. I never walk into a supermarket thinking, “Right, what I am going to cook?” At the end of this book, I hope you feel the same.
